Finance leadership, sized to where you are, ready for where you’re going.

Most growing companies have a good bookkeeper, an outside accountant for taxes, and an owner carrying everything in between. We fill that gap at the level your business needs now, from a dependable month-end close to CFO-level leadership, and we grow with you as the business changes.

How we help

Four levels of support. One relationship.

I. Fractional Accounting

For owners who need the numbers to be current and correct.

We oversee or run your bookkeeping, close the books every month, reconcile every account, and deliver financial statements you can trust. We work alongside your bookkeeper or fill the role ourselves.

  • Bookkeeping oversight and quality review
  • A month-end close on a written checklist
  • Bank, credit-card, and balance-sheet reconciliations
  • A monthly reporting package and a clean year-end handoff to your outside tax accountant
II. Fractional Controller

For companies that need someone senior to own the numbers.

An experienced controller owns the close, the controls, and the accuracy of your financials, and supervises the people doing the day-to-day work.

  • A close calendar with owners and due dates
  • Accrual-basis financials and balance-sheet schedules
  • Internal controls and an approval matrix sized to your team
  • Technical accounting guidance, and schedules for your outside auditors and lenders
III. Fractional VP of Finance

For growing companies that need finance to work with operations.

A senior finance leader who turns accurate numbers into budgets, forecasts, KPIs, and better decisions on pricing, capacity, and cash.

  • An annual budget, a rolling forecast, and a 13-week cash view
  • KPI dashboards and a monthly business review
  • Pricing, margin, and working-capital improvement
  • Finance team design and hiring plans
IV. Fractional CFO

For high-stakes moments: lenders, sponsors, acquisitions, and exits.

A strategic finance executive for the owner, the board, lenders, and sponsors.

  • A three-year plan and scenario models
  • Lender, board, and sponsor reporting, with covenant forecasting
  • M&A, integration, and diligence readiness
  • Preparation for a refinancing, capital raise, or sale (we prepare you for lenders and diligence; we don’t raise capital)

Levels combine. Many clients have controller coverage every week and CFO time when they need it.

Built to grow with you

Move up a level when the business does. No need to start over.

  1. Get the numbers right

Fractional Accounting. Current books, a monthly close, and reconciled accounts.

  2. Make them reliable

Fractional Controller. Close calendar, controls, and reporting that holds up for lenders and auditors.

  3. Use them to run the business

Fractional VP of Finance. Budget, forecast, cash, and KPIs.

  4. Use them to shape the future

Fractional CFO. Capital, lenders, sponsors, and transactions.

  5. Build the permanent team

When it’s time to hire a full-time controller or CFO, a separate fixed-fee project helps you define the role, set the pay, assess the finalists, and hand off. Your new hire starts with a documented close calendar, controls, and reporting package that already work.

Fractional or full-time?

An honest answer to “should we just hire someone?”

A full-time CFO or controller is the right answer for some companies, and we’ll tell you when you’ve reached that point. Until then, fractional leadership gives you senior experience for the hours you need, without a recruiting fee, a benefits load, or a months-long search. You also get the breadth of two senior founders rather than one person’s experience.

Assessment FAQ

Questions owners ask

Is it really free?

Yes. There’s no cost and no obligation. If you’d like help afterward, we’ll suggest a scope and a fixed fee. If not, the roadmap is yours to keep.

Who is it for?

Owners and leaders of businesses with roughly $5M to $100M in revenue, whether founder-owned, family-owned, or PE-backed.

Do you need access to our accounting system?

No. Your answers are enough. Standard exports (financial statements, trial balance, A/R aging) make the readout more specific.

How is this different from the Quality-of-Close Assessment?

The free assessment is a light, broad 10-dimension snapshot based on your own answers. The Quality-of-Close Assessment is our in-depth diagnostic: a three-week paid engagement that tests your close, reconciliations, and controls.

Will you tell us if we need a full-time hire?

Yes. If the right answer is a full-time controller or CFO, we’ll say so, and we can help you hire and hand off as a separate fixed-fee project.
